Happy New Year! If you have a cat, you may want to do something special for Fluffy tomorrow. January 2nd, is Happy Mew Year’s Day for Cats! Read on as a local Benson, NC vet discusses ringing in 2019 with your feline pal.
If cats could make resolutions, what do you think their goals would be? We suspect that Fluffy may vow to finally catch that red dot. Or, she may hatch a plot to get rid of the dog, avoid veterinary appointments, or distribute her fur more evenly. Some furballs may try to work on new sleeping records or positions, while others may want to purrfect their pouncing skills. Another thing that may make your kitty’s list of goals is simply keeping a closer eye on you. Our feline overlords like to keep their humans in sight at all times!
Fluffy’s Plans For 2019
It’s probably safe to say that your feline buddy will sleep through a good chunk of 2019. Make this easy for her by setting out lots of comfy beds for her. Cats aren’t very fussy when it comes to choosing sleeping spots, so even a folded blanket will likely work. Of course, Fluffy can’t spend all of her time sleeping. Keep your furry pal happy and entertained by offering her lots of fun toys and taking time to play with her regularly.
Keeping Your Pet Purring
The start of a new year is a wonderful time to look at Fluffy’s care regimen, and see if anything should be adjusted. First, make sure your pet is eating a high-quality pet food, and that she always has plenty of water and a clean litterbox. Regular veterinary care should also be on the agenda for the new year. Most cats need to come in at least once a year, though some will need more frequent appointments. Ask your vet to recommend an appropriate appointment schedule. Last but not least, pay lots of attention to your feline friend this year. Kitties are great snuggle buddies, and have a special way of brightening up our days with their adorable furry faces, goofy antics, and charismatic meows.
